As the founder of Hua Ho Department Store, he played a crucial role in shaping the nation’s business landscape. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming a leading entrepreneur is a testament to his vision, dedication, and perseverance.

Arriving in Brunei as a young man, Lau Ah Kok began his career as a clerk but soon pursued his entrepreneurial ambitions. In 1942, he purchased land in Jalan Muara, Manggis, where he started vegetable farming and poultry.
